Croația s-a calificat duminică seara în sferturile de finală ale Cupei Mondiale, după ce a învins Danemarca la lovituri de departajare. Finalul meciului a fost incendiar, întrucât ambele echipe au ratat, pe rând, din punctul de la 11 metri. Partida a fost transmisă în direct și în exclusivitate la TVR1 și TVR HD. În primul meci al zilei, Rusia s-a calificat în sferturile de finală ale competiției, după ce a câștigat cu 4-3 la loviturile de departajare.
